What's the name of your business and how did you come up with it?
Sabaidee! My name is Vicky and I run our family (mother, father and middle daughter) business called PSV Cuisine. We wanted a name that represented us as a family and who we are. PSV are the letters from the syllables of our surname – Phomsouvanh.
What are your inspirations for being in the food industry?
Laos is still widely unknown and we made it our mission to bring Laos to the table through food. We began this journey in 2017 starting with just 5 dishes and fast forward 5 years to 2022, we now have 20+ items of Lao food on our menu and have loved witnessing the growth of this.
What were some of your challenges being a Lao business?
Fortunately we have not been met with any challenges since launching Lao food in our business. We are often met with compliments and questions about Laos which we are happy to answer and educating people about anything Lao.
What advice would you give to someone based on your experience?
I would say whatever you want to do, do with a passion and should it not work out as soon as you want or how you want, it will. Just be patient and persevere and everything will work out the way it is supposed to.
