In 1980, our parents escaped war in Laos and sought refuge in the United States with my oldest sister who was just a few months old and very little to their name. Their plans were uncertain but what was certain were the opportunities that lie ahead and the possibility of creating “home” in an unfamiliar place. Fast forward, two more daughters and 3 grandchildren later, our parents have done everything to instill the culture and traditions they remember from their home and our promise to them is to share what they’ve taught us with the community that help shape who we are today.
